Understanding Offset in Spaceti

Updated over a month ago

What is Offset?
At its core, offset is a parameter that modifies the start or end time of a scheduled event by adding a certain amount of time—in Spaceti this is hours related to the booking opening.

How Offset Works
In practice, setting an offset involves specifying a value (e.g., hours) that the system then applies to a base time. This adjusted time determines when certain actions or bookings can start or end.

Important Clarification:
To clarify, if you have an offset parameter, this time will be ADDED to the time of the opening of the LAST day in the Advance booking limit.

Example Explanation:

Suppose you have set up your system so that customers can book a service up to 3 days in advance. If today is 08.01 (Wednesday), then the last day you can book for is 10.01 (Friday).

  • Without any offset, the system would typically open bookings for 10.01 at 00:00 on 08.01.

  • With an offset of 10 (hours), the system will now add 10 hours to that timing, making bookings available for 10.01 starting at 10:00 instead of midnight.

So, it works in a way that if you have an offset parameter, then this time will be ADDED to the time of the opening of the LAST day in the advance booking limit. This allows you to precisely control when bookings become available, which is useful for operational preferences, such as opening reservations later in the day, avoiding early access, or syncing with business hours.
