Custom Shortcuts/Links

This article describes the various options and respective processes required to add custom links to the Spaceti Web & Mobile App

Updated over a week ago

What Are Custom Shortcuts?

Custom shortcuts are configurable links that can be added to both the Spaceti mobile

apps and the web portal.

These shortcuts provide quick access to external services or internal tools.

• Mobile and web shortcuts are managed independently.

• All users see the same shortcuts by default.

Deep Linking to Mobile Apps

If you want a shortcut that opens another mobile app

(e.g., “Book My Cab” → MoveInSync app), you can use a smart link that:

• Opens the app directly if it’s installed.

• Redirects to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) if not installed.

To achieve this, you must create a universal deep link using a third-party service such as:

• Branch.io

• Firebase Dynamic Links

• AppsFlyer OneLink

Note: Spaceti does not create these links. The customer is responsible for generating the smart link and providing it to Spaceti.

Icons for Shortcuts

Each shortcut requires a set of icons:

• Web icon

• Mobile icon (light mode)

• Mobile icon (dark mode)

These icons must be:

• Simple, single-color images

• Sized and formatted to ensure visual consistency

• Uploaded by Spaceti

How to Set Up a Shortcut

Shortcuts are created by the Spaceti Product Team via a service request.

What You Need to Provide:

1. Title of the shortcut

2. Target platform: Web, Mobile, or both

3. Smart link URL (e.g., Branch.io link)

4. Icon: A simple, single-color image

Spaceti team will then:

• Generate the necessary icon variants (web, mobile, dark mode)

• Upload them to the backend

• Configure the shortcut in the system

Currently, there is no self-service interface for managing shortcuts or uploading icons.

Example Use Case

Shortcut: “Book My Cab”

Target App: MoveInSync

Behavior:

• If the app is installed → opens the app

• If not installed → redirects to the App Store or Google Play
