Spaceti Kiosk Mode allows you to display the workplace map on a shared screen, touchscreen, reception display, or other dedicated device.

There are two Kiosk Mode options:

Closed Kiosk – displays a fixed building and floor. Users cannot navigate to another building or floor.

Opened Kiosk – allows users to select and browse different buildings and floors directly from the kiosk.

This guide explains the difference between the two modes, how to configure them, and how users interact with the kiosk.

Use Closed Kiosk when the device should always represent one particular location.

For example, a kiosk installed on Floor 3 can remain associated with Floor 3 without allowing visitors to navigate to another floor or building.

Closed Kiosk does not display the building or floor selectors.

Use Opened Kiosk when users should be able to explore different locations.

Building and floor selectors are available so users can move between the buildings and floors they have access to.

This is particularly useful for interactive wayfinding screens.

Before setting up the kiosk, make sure:

Kiosk Mode follows the building's map configuration.

Administrators can configure this under:

Administration → Building Management → Settings → Map settings

Under Map visibility, select which map types should be available:

At least one map type must remain enabled.

You can also configure the Default map, which determines which map is displayed first.

These settings apply to both Opened and Closed Kiosk Mode.

Closed Kiosk is designed for a device that should remain associated with one building and floor.

Sign in to Spaceti on the device that will be used as the kiosk.

Open the Closed Kiosk URL for your Spaceti environment:

https://<your-space-id>.spaceti.com/realtime-view/kiosk

Replace <your-space-id> with your organisation's Space ID.

When configuring the kiosk, select the building and floor that should be displayed.

Confirm the selection to open the map.

The kiosk is now associated with that location.

Open the kiosk in full-screen mode or configure the device/browser according to your organisation's kiosk-device policy.

We recommend keeping the device connected to a stable network connection and power supply if it is intended to operate continuously.

Users can interact with the map and the functionality available on it, but they cannot change the kiosk's building or floor.

Building and floor navigation controls are intentionally hidden.

This makes Closed Kiosk suitable for displays that represent a specific physical location.

Opened Kiosk is designed for interactive displays where users need to browse different locations.

Sign in to Spaceti on the kiosk device.

Open:

When Opened Kiosk starts, the kiosk configuration screen allows you to select:

Confirm the selection to open the map.

The map opens centered on the selected building and floor.

Users can use the building and floor selectors to navigate between the locations available to the kiosk account.

When another building or floor is selected, the map updates accordingly.

Opened Kiosk remembers the most recently applied building and floor on the same device/browser.

The selection is stored locally in the browser.

This means the selection is device-specific and is not shared between kiosk devices.

If the browser's site data is cleared, the stored selection is removed.

When the Opened Kiosk configuration screen is displayed and nobody interacts with it for 30 seconds, the screen automatically closes and the kiosk continues to the map.

The location used depends on whether the kiosk has been used previously.

If no previous selection exists on the device:

First available building → first available floor → map opens

If a building and floor were previously applied:

Last applied building → last applied floor → map opens

This prevents the kiosk from remaining indefinitely on the configuration screen.

Administrators can also provide an initial building and floor through URL parameters.

For example:

/realtime-view/kiosk-open?building_id=102&floor_id=132

This can be useful when:

The IDs must correspond to a building and floor available to the kiosk account.

Important: Opened Kiosk can still be changed by the user. If the display must remain permanently restricted to one building and floor, use Closed Kiosk instead.

Use the Building and Floor selectors on the kiosk to navigate to another location.

The newly applied location becomes the most recently used location for that device/browser.

Building and floor selectors are not available to kiosk users.

If the display needs to represent another fixed location, the kiosk configuration must be changed accordingly.

Kiosk Mode respects the map settings configured for the building.

Go to: Administration → Building Management → Settings → Map settings

Choose whether users can access:

At least one map must remain enabled.

Choose which enabled map should open first.

If the currently selected default map is disabled, Spaceti automatically uses the remaining enabled map as the default.

These settings affect:

They do not change the map configuration of the Spaceti mobile apps or Meeting Room App.

The browser may have a previously stored building/floor selection.

Select the required building and floor and apply the configuration again.

If necessary, clear the browser's site data for Spaceti and configure the kiosk again.

This is expected.

After 30 seconds of inactivity, Opened Kiosk automatically continues to the map using its stored or fallback location.

Check that:

Check that the URL contains valid:

building_id

and

floor_id

values.

The selected building and floor must also be accessible to the kiosk account.

Use Closed Kiosk instead of Opened Kiosk.

Closed Kiosk is specifically designed to keep a kiosk fixed to one building and floor.

Check which kiosk URL is being used.

Closed Kiosk:

Use Opened Kiosk if users need building and floor navigation.

If the screen should always display one building and floor, use Closed Kiosk.

If visitors need to browse the workplace themselves, use Opened Kiosk.
