Why does my Huawei phone flag the Spaceti app as a security risk?
Why does my Huawei phone flag the Spaceti app as a security risk?

We are currently experiencing problems with some older Huawei devices. On these devices, the Spaceti app is flagged as containing malware.

Updated over 7 months ago

Not to worry- we assure you the Spaceti app does not contain malware. We have gone through extensive scanning of the app.

Huawei's software seems to misinterpret some features of the app as having malicious intent. We can confirm this is a false positive situation- where the phone's security systems identify a legitimate app as a threat. Similarly, this has occurred to the Google app on some Huawei devices in late 2023.

Unfortunately, there is little we can do at the moment as we require Huawei's cooperation to resolve this issue on their devices. We are actively investigating what could be causing this, but as Huawei does not disclose how their systems check for malicious hardware, we are merely making sure nothing sticks out and everything looks in order.

Spaceti is a secure, ISO 27001 certified, GDPR and SOC 2 compliant platform trusted by more than 50+ top enterprise clients spread in more than 20 countries across Europe, North America, and the Middle East covering 30 mil.+ square feet of space. To learn more visit our trust page.

Please use your best judgement and if you meanwhile wish to use the app on your Huawei device, ignore the warning messages.
If you are not sure, consider using the web dashboard or another device instead.
