New Customer-Facing Feature: Extended Device Authorisation Flow
A new, third activation option has been added to the Meeting Room App:
Remote Device Activation & Remote Space Assignment via the Web Admin Dashboard.
This extends the existing OAuth 2.0 Device Authorisation Flow and enables system administrators to:
Activate a device fully remotely
Assign the device to a room (Building → Floor → Space)
Configure related settings
Complete the entire onboarding workflow without touching the tablet
The new flow consists of two stages:
1️⃣ Stage One — Remote Device Authorisation
When a new device displays a User Code, the backend sends this information to the Hardware Management Dashboard, where the tablet appears under Pending Registration. The administrator can remotely confirm the code and complete the OAuth process, issuing a JWT token to the device.
Remote Device Authorisation Steps (Tablet)
Step 1: Install and launch the newest Meeting Room App.
Step 2: On the Activate Your Device screen, choose Start remote activation.
Step 3: Enter the Organisation Domain.
If valid, the device will appear in the Web Portal under:
Administration → Hardware Management → Tablets → Pending Registration
Step 4: The tablet shows a confirmation message.
You are returned to the Activation screen, where the domain appears as assigned.
You may also remove the domain or refresh the QR code at any time.
Continue in the Web Admin Portal
Step 5: Go to:
Administration → Hardware Management → Tablets → Pending Registration
Identify the tablet using the displayed User Code.
Click Activate Device.
Step 6: Confirm the activation code.
If you logged in with SSO, you will be prompted to log in using your standard email + password credentials.
Step 7: The activation is now complete.
Return to the Web Portal.
The tablet will show: Your device is now connected
2️⃣ Stage Two — Remote Space Assignment & Configuration
Once authorised, the device’s state changes to authorized and remains visible in Pending Registration.
Step 8: Click Set up device.
Step 9: Complete the configuration steps:
After clicking Send, the configuration is passed to the device.
For a few seconds, the device appears as Activated, then it disappears from Pending Registration.
If any communication issue occurs, an information message is displayed.
Successfully activated tablet appears in the Registered devices section
Step 10: The device now appears under Registered Devices and is fully ready to use.
